Big banana slugs (>3 inches long) are less likely to drown in the beer, so for bigger slugs we recommend baiting the trap with a commercial slug repellent bait like Corry's or Sluggo instead. The trap will protect the bait from the rain, and slugs that eat the bait will crawl away to die elsewhere, allowing the trap to work for weeks between refills.
Leave your SlugGetter traps in place for a few nights in each spot, to reduce slug populations in the immediate vicinity. Dispose of dead slugs in your compost pile or trash can, to avoid drawing more slugs to your plants. Move your traps around after a few days to cover a larger area, but repeat the trapping at previously-trapped spots
