Slugs are active primarily at night (and in daylight during wet weather). They hide under rocks, logs, and ground litter during the day, so put your SlugGetter traps near cover, to catch slugs as they leave their hiding places in the evening.

If you have a plant being attacked by slugs, try putting a trap near the plant for a night or two, to catch the slugs doing the damage. Then move it closer to the nearest hiding cover to avoid drawing more slugs to the plant.

Fill the base with beer to attract and kill slugs. Slugs will smell the bait and crawl into the pool of beer and drown (happy!). Big banana slugs (>3 inches long) are less likely to drown in the beer, so for bigger slugs we recommend baiting the trap with a commercial slug repellent bait like Corry's or Sluggo instead. Leave your SlugGetter traps in place for a few nights in each spot, to reduce slug populations in the immediate vicinity. Dispose of dead slugs in your compost pile or trash can, to avoid drawing more slugs to your plants. Move your traps around after a few days to cover a larger area, but repeat the trapping at previously-trapped spots
